The North Institute will have an open house every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in the North Institute office starting from February 5, 2009 for faculty. Please mark your calendar.
At the open house sessions we would love to share with you our newly acquired or developed applications, and provide individualized assistance or training to you on educational technology-related issues. Though the needs you bring will define what we are going to discuss or work on, here is a list of things that you might be interested in learning more about from the North Institute:
- How to use your Mac Operating System;
- How to get started developing an online course;
- How to use Blackboard or certain features of Blackboard;
- How to develop multimedia components for your courses, such as developing audio and video lectures using such applications as the Podcast producer, Garage Band, or ITunesU;
- How to set up and develop “Web 2.0” content for your course, such as the use of blogs and wikis where users contribute content;
- How to set up and use certain applications such as Respondus, Lockdown Browser, Turnitin, and EndNote (for research bibliography management);
- How to use our mobile applications such as “Here” (recording attendance), “Sign-up” (sign up for services), “3 by 5” (flash cards);
…
Or any other issue or need that you think that the North Institute may help you with. Our office is located on the third floor of the Beam library. If the Open House time does not work for you, please feel free to schedule an appointment with us. Email: northinstitute@oc.edu. Tel: 1858, 1856
